Let me just say something completely cheesy and also completely true (and not as random as it seems):

I wouldn't be the same person if I hadn't been a part of the BtVS community.
I think that's pretty amazing, since it's one of only two fandoms I can say that about.

So, wow. Ten years ago, Buffy started. Strange.

I COULD go into something long and drawn-out here, but... basically? ♥. Yeah.

i think btvs was the best thing that ever happened to me.

g and i were talking the other night, and she said something about how she watched the simpsons so much for a while that every conversation she had came back to it, because they'd quote something or have some obscure reference.

switch out the simpsons for buffy and "for a while" for "for the last ten years" and that's pretty much us! she didn't get it though- not a buffy fan.

but yeah. can you imagine where we'd be without it? i;d be normal and stuck in jersey for the rest of my life!

(ok ok, i wouldn't be normal. heh.)

(neither of us would be normal - not the point!)

and, hahaha, it's so true.

I don't really think about where I'd be without it, because... haha, it's so dumb, but Buffy was more than a SHOW. I mean... it was the boards and the chats and the websites and the friendships and the FREAKOUTS and the summer hiatuses and the speculation and the really crappy fanfiction and the OpenDiary's and RANDY and just. everything. you know?

And that sounds so DUMB, but... gah.

it just changed EVERYTHING. i mean, we might have still met- we were both floating around the book boards at the same time- but would it have been the same? would we even have noticed each other? i don't want to think about that scary alternate universe anymore :/

it wasn't even really about the show, since our board talked about actual canon so much less than all the other boards. heeeeeeeee, our fic. god, we had some cracked out plots.

i wish there was some archive of everything though. i'd actually pay aol $100 for an archive of our board. at least we still have some of the chats and stuff :/

Do you still have some of the chats? I don't... I lost everything I had saved when my laptop went. Unless there's stuff on the site? I dunno.

And man... an archive of that board... haha, I'm not sure I'd WANT to read it? We were probably so stupid, and I like the illusion that we were awesome, thx. hahaha.

Oh man, as said above, BtVS was totally the best thing that ever happened to me, possibly both creatively and personally, and I haven't loved anything else quite as much since.

my god. i was 8!

how insane is that? while i don't talk as much with all the btvs kids, it definitely made an impact. i know i wouldn't be the same without it.
