I've been reading a lot lately. Decent way to pass the time.
Spoilers for Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen, by Tamora Pierce
I ended up loving Aly. When I first started reading, I just... missed Alanna, and Kel, and knights, honestly, but I did end up loving her. Even if there's not enough George for my taste, considering she's his daughter, heh. And even if the fact that she ends up having babies with a crow FREAKS ME OUT.
Dude, in the end when she's Dove's spymaster... what would she do if the Isles and Tortall ever went to war? Srsly, that would be bad. heh.
Also, though, it amuses me that she and George are basically pitted against each other. ::dies:: The end, when he's all amused by her telling him to get his people out? SO FUNNY. Oh, George.
And, a couple of quotes I have to have here:
Heeeeeeeeeehehehehe. Oh, George and Alanna. SO MUCH FREAKING LOVE.
Actually, speaking of George and Alanna... another good thing about the Aly books! No Jon! WOOHOO. Of course I love Thayet, but it's acceptable not to have her when it means I also don't have Jon. Heh.
And the other quote I wanted here:
HAHAHA omg. You guys have NO IDEA how much I cracked up when I read that. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Oh, George. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

And, a couple of quotes I have to have here:
As she had observed in the case of her parents, it was hard for a man to silence a too-frank wife when she spoke in front of company. Da was usually amused, but then, the pricklier her mother, the happier her father. Aly had never understood it.
Heeeeeeeeeehehehehe. Oh, George and Alanna. SO MUCH FREAKING LOVE.

And the other quote I wanted here:
"Your Majesty, he lies," Aly said, shaking her head with regret. "He lies all the time. I think sometimes he lies just to stay in practice."
HAHAHA omg. You guys have NO IDEA how much I cracked up when I read that. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Oh, George. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

on 2008-02-12 10:51 pm (UTC)BUT. what if one of alanna's enemies (in tortall, even) found out about aly's position (which, let's face it, will be an open secret in the isles) and plotted to make the two countries to go to war just to fuck up alanna's life. like, cause some riots, wreak havoc, etc etc and at a certain point, the people take charge of these things, fuck what the king says! and boom, there is war. i think alanna would stay in tortall, to try to get a handle on things, but george would be on the first boat over to rescue aly and his grandnestlings.

on 2008-02-16 02:52 pm (UTC)I hate how you had to call them 'grandnestlings'. ::makes a face::
Also, that sounds like it would be a fabulous chapter-fic. Which someone else should write.

on 2008-02-13 12:22 am (UTC)i like aly, too. and even though nawat is a crow (and lisa insists that i am too because of this), i enjoy him. not anywhere on my list of top ten people from tortall, but nonetheless, i enjoy him. (the baby thing, however, is a completely other story and it gives me the wiggins.)
no jon for the win!

on 2008-02-14 10:24 pm (UTC)I want to tell you the thing that made me hate Aly (after I'd absolutely loved her while reading both books).
